First Summer Interview & Quick Update

One of our first interviews for the summer looks to be with another talented Midwest group Ha Ha Tonka. We’ll be catching up with the band in Chicago to begin gathering footage next month. I’ve found it difficult to describe the groups sound but, the guys describe their sound as “foot stompin’ indie rock”. Personally they almost remind me of a folkier or a more soulful Kings of Leon. I do have to say the opening harmonies and vocals in Walking On The Devil’s Backbone immediately caught my attention. It is nice to see a solid band come out of my home state of Missouri. The group’s originally from Springfield, MO and kept s true to its roots by naming the band after a hometown State Park. It’s been way to long since one of us has taken a minute to update everyone about everything that has been going on with OurVinyl.com. It’s been a busy past few months and we are still busy editing and working to bring you more artist interviews and content. OurVinyl.com is currently in the process of registering itself as a legal business entity. We should have the LLC registered by the end of April.

We were happy to welcome on board a handful of new writers and photographers in the past few months. They were a tremendous help at our fist organized event. You can check out photos from the show on our Facebook page. Our second event will be held in April with a Columbus group by the name of This Is My Suitcase. Check back for news and tickets!

We are currently booking bands and interviews for the summer. If you know of any artists interested please let us know. You may be able to find us at a few festivals scattered throught the country this summer. Let us know if you have any ideas or any interested in joining us!

New Logo and Quick Update

The new logo is finally official and you can expect to see some major changes to the blog in the next few week. The new layout will be implemented next week the 21st of this month. We feel the logo is a much better representation of our company but, we would love to hear your thoughts and opinions. We are looking into Trademarking the logo this time due to the unexpected launch of Myspace Music’s logo last year. All graphic design work was done by Ourvinyl.com’s Alex Hoffman. Alex is currently working on launching his own site to spotlight his own portfolio. We will be sure to post the link in the next week to allow you to see some of his other artistic accomplishments. Next week you can also expect to see the John Nolan piece. We ran into several audio issues with the footage but, continue to learn with each piece we finish.

The past week proved to be more than eventful. We were lucky to spend an evening with John Nolan of Straylight Run and Taking Back Sunday. The talented Nolan is working on a Fan Collaboration that we look forward to discussing in detail on the blog in the next couple of weeks. Walker also recently finalized our second artist interview with The Chandler Wright Story. The article and interview will be posted sometime this week. We apologize we have not been able to post recently due to all the network changes but, can assure you we are still busy.

Thanks to Matt we made a smooth transition to a new server and will be moving to a new refreshing blog layout in August. We recently finalized a new logo and we look forward to releasing it in August. This weekend we will be in Washington DC interviewing Xavier Rudd and we look forward to bringing you live concert footage and another artist interview. If your in the DC area join the Ourvinyl.com Fan page on Facebook. We are hosting an event this Thursday 3oth and would love for you to join us to discuss our project plans.

New Playlist Feature

A new feature we would like to bring to your attention was made possible by Playlist.com. If you would like us to add a track to the dashboard party playlist post a comment with the artist and the track! We are currently re-organizing the direction we would like to take our own venture but, together in the mean time we can now make a make a fun playlist thanks to playlist.com. This may also be a perfect way to help expose you all to new talented musicians!

Now as long as you have a computer handy you will have a place to go with a playlist hopefully full of new musicans! Also, send us an e-mail or be sure to post a comment if you would like to be included in the mailing list. Thanks for all of your support!
