New Playlist Feature

Submitted by Mike Reuther on February 23, 2009 – 8:10 am14 Comments

A new feature we would like to bring to your attention was made possible by Playlist.com.  If you would like us to add a track to the dashboard party playlist post a comment with the artist and the track!  We are currently re-organizing the direction we would like to take our own venture but, together in the mean time we can now make a make a fun playlist thanks to playlist.com.  This may also be a perfect way to help expose you all to new talented musicians!

Now as long as you have a computer handy you will have a place to go with a playlist hopefully full of new musicans!  Also, send us an e-mail or be sure to post a comment if you would like to be included in the mailing list.  Thanks for all of your support!

I’m a big fan of The Gourds version of Gin & Juice. I am even happier to see that they were not labeled as Phish like everyone else seems to think. I’ve also got some song suggestions:

+ Down in the Flood – Derek Trucks band
–>this is a great cover of the Bob Dylan original

+ Play Your Part (Pt. 2) – Girl Talk
–>a mash-up of many songs featuring artists such as AC/DC, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em, and Journey

+ The Ocean – John Butler Trio
–>an instrumental guitar piece that John Butler refers to as his “prayer”

+ Freaker by the Speaker – Keller Williams
–>Keller is known as a one-man-jam band, recording and looping all of his own sections

+ Love is the Only Way – Robert Randolph & The Family Band
–>ranked in the top 100 guitarists of all-time by Rolling Stone with only 2 studio albums, Robert Randolph’s pedal-steel slide guitar hymns are one-of-a-kind; featuring Dave Matthews

+ One Reason – Tea Leaf Green
–>a progressive band that sounds very natural and “green” with a great focus on the keys

    + Turn & Run – Umphrey’s McGee
–>ranked 4th on Rolling Stone’s top jam bands of all-time, Umphrey’s is bar none the most talented touring band around

Kevin, You should check out Xavier Rudd. I just added him and put him at the top of the list. He is pretty incredible!

Great suggestions though! I think Freaker By The Speaker was one of the first Keller Songs I came across. If I remember correctly it is on his album “Breathe” which is a awesome album. I added most of the songs you suggested but, I am kind of limited with Playlist.com’s selection.

  • Michael Rodriguez says:

I saw Xavier Rudd in concert. Amazing musician. This was a few years ago but he was a “One man band” at the time but you would never guess it from his sound of playing multiple instruments at one time. Great use of the didgeridoos (wind instrument of the aborigines).
